Academic, career and transfer advising are available for all students. An academic advisor will be assigned to all students upon their registration into classes. Students can request career and transfer advising services at any time. Students enrolled in the TRiO Student Support Services program may also enjoy the advising services of a TRiO advisor.

Through career advising students will begin to explore potential career paths by utilizing current career assessment programs and personal one-on-one interviews with a Career Advisor. By speaking with a Career Advisor, students have a better understanding of how their academic, vocational, or occupational coursework will will lead them to their eventual career goals. Planning on continuing your education after OJC?

We can help with Transfer Advising.

Our Transfer Advisors can help you find the college that is right for you to transfer to in order to complete your bachelor's degree. OJC has agreements with a number of Colorado universities as well as out-of-state universities. Credit for Prior Learning (CPL)

At Otero Junior College we realize significant learning happens outside of the formal classroom setting and often in the workplace or through your interest in independently learning about a subject. Through the Prior Learning Assessment Credit process, you can have your learning evaluated regardless of where, when, or how you acquired it as long as you can document your learning and it can be verified at a college level.

Military Training

Students who have military training and experience can earn credit based on the American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations on their Joint Services Transcript. For further information please see:
